Hi there Everyone, Maurice here. Today I have a very special guest who is an old friend of mine, so I’m pretty excited to welcome and introduce her to you all. Anna is a good friend of the family and when I found out that she had been following Kayla Itsines workout called Bikini Body Guide, I just had to find out if it was any good.
For those of you who do not already know Kayla Itsines is the author of the Bikini Body Guide. She also has her own App called Sweat with Kayla which has been one of the trending Apps in the AppStore for the past few months. Kayla Itsines has a HUGE following on Instagram with over 5 Million followers which is just crazy!
Before interviewing Anna, I done a little research and found there is quite a lot of mixed reviews on Kayla Itsines guides so I was eager to see what she had to say about this popular workout.
Interview With Anna Buckler
Maurice: Hi there Anna, it’s been way to long. How have you been?
Anna: Hi Maurice, yes it’s been far too long! I’ve been great thanks.
Maurice: That’s wonderful, good to hear. Thank you so much for letting me interview you by the way, I have to admit I was pretty excited to have a chat with you today. We will have to catch up more often.
Anna: Not a problem at all. I was also looking forward to it and yes, we will definitely have to catch up.
Maurice: Excellent. So, tell me a little bit about yourself for those who don’t know who you are.
Anna: Sure. I’m a bit of a country girl but recently moved to Palm Beach, which is just outside of Sydney Australia. I recently got engaged to my childhood sweetheart and work in aged care.
Maurice: Congratulations Anna! Engaged, that’s amazing. So happy for you and wow Palm Beach – NICE! It’s absolutely beautiful there from what I can remember, I think they do Home and Away there right?
Anna: Aww, thank you so much. Yes, it took me a little while to adjust to the city life but I’ve fallen in love with Palm Beach it’s so nice. Yes, they do shoot Home and Away here lol. I’ve even seen some of the cast from the show.
Maurice: Amazing! That would be so cool. So, Anna, I was chatting to you on Facebook and you told me the other day that you had been following Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide. Can you tell us a little bit about how you came about her workouts and why you chose to follow her guides?
Anna: Yes, that’s right. Sure, more than happy to. So, working in aged care and driving back and forth in an hours worth of traffic every day, my life is pretty hectic and I don’t really get much time to look after myself. Since moving to the city I started eating out more and gained 13kg. It was about 3 months ago, I was getting dressed to go to work and looked into the mirror and realised how much weight I had actually put on. I didn’t like it and had to do something about it. That’s when I jumped on my laptop and started searching for ways to lose weight and workout programs. I found blogger talking about Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide and she gave it a really good review so I bought a copy.
Maurice: I see, thanks for sharing that Anna. I’m pretty sure a lot of people can relate to having a busy life style and it is very easy to just go through the drive through’s these days and grab some dinner on the way home, because who wants to cook after being at work all day right? So, tell us a little more about Kayle Itsines guides. I’m just going through our Facebook convo and you mentioned you quit? What’s with that?
Anna: So true! Plus I hate cooking, in fact my fiance does most of the cooking at home lol. When I downloaded Kayla Itsines guide I was expecting a little more to be honest, but really it’s just a couple of pdf style eBooks with some pictures of Kayla Itsines doing the workouts and a little bit about each exercise. The Nutrition guide is way to strict for my liking and after doing some research it might even be a little unhealthy. It is well written and looks professional but for the price it was a bit of a let down when I oped it all up. After all they are just pdf guides.
Maurice: Sorry to hear but it is good to get some honest feedback about these guides that get heavily promoted through social media. So, did you give the workouts and nutrition guide a try at all?
Anna: Well, this all just my opinion, but there does seem to be a lot of mixed reviews out there and I really wish I had of read them before buying Kayla’s guides because I wouldn’t have done so. I did give them a good go for 2 weeks but following the nutrition guide was so hard. I was always hungry and my energy levels were so low that I just didn’t have the energy to do the workouts at all. And the mood swings, well I don’t think my fiance would of lasted much longer because I became so moody just because I was hungry all the time. So to answer your question, yes I did give it a good go but for me it was 2 weeks of pain!
Maurice: 2 weeks of pain, wow that’s a bold statement. I actually done some research before the interview just to learn a little more about Kayla Itsines and her BBG, I also found a lot of mixed reviews and it does seem like a bit of a trend when it comes to people not completing the 12 week challenge. So the nutrition guide is a very low carb diet right? I can see why you went through the mood swings.
Anna: Yes, the nutrition plan is very restrictive and way to difficult for me to follow. I think that’s the reason why most people give up as well.
The Big Question – Is Bikini Body Guide Really Worth The Money?
Maurice: Okay Anna, here is the big question and I’m sure a lot of people reading my blog would like to know the same thing, is Kayla Itsines guides really worth the money?
Anna: Well, in my opinion, no not really. It is a LOT of money just for a pdf guide, if it were a hard copy of the program then I could probably justify the price. I may have quit following Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide but that didn’t stop me from trying something else. I’m now following a different workout called The Beta Switch by Sue Heintze.
Maurice: Ohh okay, well you are entitled to your opinion and there does seem to be a lot of people who share the same thoughts as you. I guess Bikini Body Guide isn’t for everyone. So, tell us a little more about this Sue Heintze and her workouts. Hows it all going for you?
Anna: I’ve lost 8kg in 6 weeks that’s how it’s going! I wont go into to much detail about her guide but I do know it works and I feel amazing. You not only get pdf guides, you also get videos, workout sheets, success tracker and shopping lists. Best of all it’s only $19 which is a fraction of what I paid for Kayla Itsines guides.
Maurice: WOW, that’s amazing Anna, 8kg in 6 weeks! Congratulations..I will have to check out this Beta Switch program to see what it’s all about. $19 is a steal. Does Sue have a website?

Basically she teaches you how to flip your switch to “fat-releasing” mode. The workouts aren’t boring and it’s so good to be able to watch the workout videos on your iPad or handheld device, I can take them anywhere.
